An enlarged Liverpool Competition gets under way today at 12:30pm with new captains, new players and old faces appearing in new surroundings.

Timmy Watkins, former captain and multi championship winner at New Brighton, returns to Rake Lane after a spell as player and ultimately captain at Huyton but is not available for today's match with Northern.

Hightown and Southport and Birkdale are back in the ECB Premier League along with St Helens Recs who will be spending their first season with the elite.

The First Division gives Rainhill and Wavertree their first taste of Competition cricket and eyes will be focused on the unique match at Wigan where brothers Andy and Paul captain their respective teams. Can anyone remember when this last happened in the Competition? The Blackburns? Wavertree visit neighbours Liverpool at Aigburth.
