NatWest CricketForce
Dave Leighton - Thursday 1st July 2010

The ECB is actively promoting the opportunity for cricket clubs to focus on a fundraising weekend in August.

As part of ECB's ongoing support to cricket clubs and to show further commitment from ECB and NatWest, we are actively promoting the opportunity for cricket clubs to focus on a weekend in August (28th-30th) to raise funds to support NatWest CricketForce (NWCF) projects at their own club next spring. The idea is to ask clubs to focus their fundraising efforts around this weekend with a view to it becoming an annual event organised by as many NWCF clubs who wish to participate as possible. In this way we can increase support externally to clubs each year.

Each club will be responsible for organising and managing their own event which could be T20, Kwik Cricket, single or double wicket comp, BBQ, picnic, auction, dinner, quiz or other activity. Clubs to be encouraged to invite senior and/or junior players and involve club members as well as the wider community. This new national promotion will provide a great opportunity for clubs to get together and raise money to help buy materials/tools/resources for NWCF 2011. We will add value in a variety of ways including:

l  England player promotions and appearances at 3 clubs

l  Autographed mini bats

l  Media day with Michael Vaughan (probably 14th July)

l  Promotion on all websites/facebook/twelfthman

l  Announcements and interviews during Bangladesh series

l  Press/media releases

l  ECB/NatWest Staff flyers to inform all staff

l  Ongoing financial support/advice via NatWest for cricket clubs

l  One National Showcase club

l  and much, much more as we develop this concept

We will be producing literature over the next couple of weeks but for now please use the attached flyer to ask clubs to save the date and consider holding a NatWest CricketForce Fundraiser. This is also a great way for CASCs to claim the Gift Aid. Please distribute to all staff who have a cricket club remit.

Best wishes

SAVE THE DATE AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY

Dear all,

Thank you for helping make NatWest CricketForce 2010 a huge success and another record breaking year.  Through the hard work of County Boards and the wider club network, NatWest CricketForce is now the largest volunteer initiative in British sport with 85,000 volunteers taking part.  An estimated 35m of volunteer time, discounted products, consultancy fees and professional services were invested into the 1,642 clubs who took part. To further help recreational cricket clubs in their quest to increase revenue and new members, NatWest and the ECB have teamed up to expand the volunteer initiative by creating a new event, 'NatWest CricketForce Fundraiser', to encourage clubs to hold a formal fundraising day over the August Bank holiday weekend to raise significant revenue to purchase products and services for NatWest CricketForce 2011.

For the moment we kindly request that should you wish to register your club to participate in a NatWest CricketForce Fundraiser this August Bank Holiday weekend that you e-mail your intention to natwestcricketforce@ecb.co.uk and we will gladly send you more comprehensive literature and a guide to fundraising.   To get the ball rolling, the first 100 clubs who send in their registration e-mail will receive a souvenir mini cricket bat signed by former England Cricket Captain and NatWest Cricket Ambassador, Michael Vaughan, to be raffled at your NatWest CricketForce Fundraiser. In addition 3 cricket clubs will receive an attendance from an England player following your fundraiser, if you would like an England player to attend your club following your fundraiser, email us stating your fundraising plans and let us know in 100 words why you should be one of 3 lucky clubs to meet an England player.

Please e-mail natwestcricketforce@ecb.co.uk

More information on 'NatWest CricketForce Fundraiser' will follow shortly.
