The death is announced of Peter Chappells at the age of 74 years.
Born in Wallasey, Peter played for Egremont St John's before joining Parkfield where he played as batsman and wicket keeper. He was captain from 1965-1966 and Chairman 1977-1985 before being elected President in 1986, a post he held until 1990.
By the early 1970s, Peter had moved to Ormskirk but he didn't forget his roots on the Wirral and travelled over to meetings and to help dig the footings for Parkfield's new pavilion.
An MCUA boundary assessor and former umpire, Peter was a past Secretary of the ACU&S Merseyside Branch.
His funeral will be held at Southport Crematorium on Thursday 11th November at 9:30am.
Donations can be made to Queenscourt Hospice, Southport.
Peter's many friends and colleagues in the L&DCC offer their condolences to his family.
