Ormskirk appeal for collapsed wall

The boundary wall being rebuilt at the Alty's Lane side of Ormskirk Cricket Club

Completely unexpectedly and to our dismay, the icy weather we had in the middle of February has had severe impact on the Alty's Lane wall at Ormskirk Cricket Club.

A great section of the wall has been cordoned off by Lancashire County Council as it is imminent danger of collapsing on to the pavement.

The club has discussed with several builders the best course of repair and it has been decided that the wall will be taken down to approximately half its height throughout its length and rebuilt in the same style as present. This ensures the heritage of the wall which was built approximately 100 years ago.

Expected costs for this are in the region of £16,000. It is hoped that the majority of the money will be raised via an ECB interest free loan with the club raising the balance.

That said, the loan will still need to be repaid and members are called upon to buy a brick (or multiple) at £10.00 each.

A cheque forwarded to the Club's Treasurer would be a welcome gesture.

The club's Committee has decided that this year there will be no rise in subscriptions to raise extra funds but would appreciate a little help from all members in raising necessary funds.

If you are sending a cheque can you mark on the reverse of the cheque 'buy a brick' to ensure it is correctly allocated? If you would like to pay online (via paypal or with credit/debit card) please use the link below.
