Century and hat trick for Jake Borrows
Monday 18th June 2012

It's back to Bolton School today for sixteen year old Jake Borrows but last night he was celebrating his achievements for Highfield 3rd XI in their LDCC 3rd XI Sunday Premier Division match at Rainford.

Jake opened Highfield's innings and had a first wicket partnership of 167 with Sam Welsby (67). When the declaration came at 200-3, Jake had reached an unbeaten 106.

Not being satisifed with just a century, so to speak, he then came on to bowl at the end of Rainford's innings and returned the amazing figures of 1.5-0-2-4 which included a hat trick to finish the match. scorecard

For Jake, it was a day to remember. Until he does it again that is.

There was an odd coincidence about Jake's achievements as Philip Fairweather, who was in the Rainford team, performed a similar feat last season whilst playing for St Helens Recs U15 XI at Westleigh CC in a Wigan and District Junior Cricket League match.

On that occasion, Philip, like Jake, opened the innings and went on to make 118 not out with Recs reaching 191-1 after 20 overs. He then took a hat trick in a return of 4-21 as Westleigh were dismissed for 126. scorecard
