Hanners follows the Cricket Path to Formby
Sunday 3rd March 2013

Last season Iain Handley (pictured left) celebrated thirty years since making his 1st XI début in the Liverpool Competition, but now he has decided to leave his home club of Liverpool and head for the leafy suburbs.

He said, "I have decided to leave Liverpool and play for Formby this season. There are no hard feelings, it's just that my whole life is up here now - I live here, teach here and manage my stepson's football team (Formby Dons Res) here.

"Travelling every week meant I couldn't really socialise with the lads at HQ as I would have liked  to and feel you should do as part of a team."

He continued, "I've run off a few copies of 'American Pie' so the Formby lads will know it when the season starts."

Iain, who will be 48 in April, has played at Liverpool, Bootle and Ormskirk, although his best bowling figures were whilst he was playing for Merseyside and Southport Alliance side Prescot Odyssey in 2003 when he took 10-33 against Nalgo.

Lawrence Armstrong takes over from Andy Halpin as captain at Formby.
