Start of
season delayed by a week
Thursday 28th
March 2013
More fixture cards confined to the dust bin. Why? To add further confusion to the coming season's fixture list it has been decided supposedly* following clubs' requests that, owing to the recent adverse weather conditions, the season will begin on Saturday 20th April and NOT Saturday 13th April as planned.
The 'round robin' matches in the Ray Digman Trophy and Chester Cup originally scheduled for Saturday 13th April will now be played on Monday 6th May.
3rd XI Sunday First Division (north east) fixtures scheduled for Sunday 14th April will move to Sunday 1st September.

* The word 'supposedly' has been used as several clubs have approached this website stating they have not been consulted about the change of date. This follows on from instances in the past when the Management Committee has made a decision, passed it on as being the clubs' wishes and the clubs haven't been consulted at all. The generalisation has been used as cover for the Management Committee's decision.
Clubs and players are keyed up to playing on Saturday 13th April and several have already made non-cricket arrangements for Monday 6th May. We can't call off games because some members of the Management Committee don't want to umpire in the cold.
The former secretary of one Premier League club said: "Who's idea is this? It's ridiculous. I didn't believe it when I heard it. We get people from Mickey Mouse clubs taking over the league and now this happens. Our ground would be alright for the 13th. Any snow that we had cleared in a day or two as must be the case across most of the Comp. It's a brainless idea thought up by someone who clearly doesn't want to play cricket. I don't believe it came from the clubs. Someone needs to check the grounds that have football or rugby on the outfield and see if they are playing that on the 13th and then we'll know the truth. It's another case of an incompetent Management Committee."
Colwyn Bay had planned to play their Chester Cup match against Southport and Birkdale on Monday 6th May owing to Glamorgan's requirement of Penrhyn Avenue on Saturday 27th April. Following the date changes, they now play Birkenhead Park on the Monday leaving them to find a date, possibly Saturday 13th April, for their match against Southport and Birkdale.
