More changes to fixtures
Sunday 31st March 2013

April Fools Day has come a day early for the LDCC Management Committee.

In what could well be the plot for a Whitehall farce and getting more laughable by the minute, the following message has been placed on the Greentop, and as is normal with Management Committee notices, is contradictory and a doctorate in jibberish is required to understand it. It reads:

START OF THE SEASON – REALLOCATED WEEK ONE CUP GAMES

FLEXIBILITY

Thank you to member clubs and individuals for the positive response to the decision by the Cricket Committee to delay the start of the 2013 season to Saturday 20th April. In addition the feedback has also included a small number of requests from clubs with pre-planned club commitments on the new designated date, Monday 6th May, for some flexibility in the actual date that the reallocated week one cup game is to be played.

The intention of the decision was to give clubs and ground staff additional time to prepare their grounds for the coming season and was an attempt to help clubs, not to disadvantage them. It has been agreed, therefore, that there should be a facility for the week one cup game to be played on a date other than Monday 6th May – subject to the following:

The week one cup games (1st and 2nd X1) have been moved en bloc to Monday 6th May and must be played by that date.

Where BOTH teams agree, the game can be played on an alternative date eg a Sunday.

If different from Monday 6th May, notification of the agreed date must be made by BOTH teams by no later than Saturday 6th April to Rob Roberts, Cup Competitions Coordinator at ldcc-cups@gmx.com

All reallocated week one cup fixtures will be fixed after 6th April and cannot be played on any other date.

If, as a result of the above, a club plays their 1st and 2nd X1 reallocated cup fixtures on different dates, Paragraph 4.1.2 in the Playing Regulations will apply.

If you have any queries in relation to the above please contact Rob Roberts in the first instance.

Playing Regulation 4.1.2

When, for any reason, a scheduled match is played earlier than the corresponding 2nd XI match, i.e. the 1st XI is earlier or the 2nd XI is later than the scheduled date, the matches shall then be considered ‘locked’ to that date. No player is eligible to play in both matches, whichever is played first, because this would have been impossible had they been played on the scheduled date. This principle shall apply to all other levels of league matches, including the ‘Group’ matches of the 1st and 2nd XI KO competitions.

The simplest thing would be to leave the fixtures as they were instead of the persistent meddling which is a characteristic of, what appears to be, a mentally unstable Management Committee that is not fit for purpose. They have dug themselves into a hole which they can't get out of and are making it bigger. Wait for more instructions during the next week. Oh to go back to the days when the Fixture and Results Secretary was able to arrange fixtures without the need for any change.

The brewery is still seeking employees as the current ones are surplus to requirements.
