Northern began the day needing ten points to be sure of securing the ECB Premier League for this season and it was quite apt that the team they were playing at Moor Park was last season's champions, Lytham. Northern were ask to bat in their last home match of the season and with Paul Horton (62) and John Wildman (51) adding 128 for the second wicket, James Cole declared at 223-5 after 50 overs. Lytham opener Will Hale scored 58 but at 134-4, Lytham pressed the destruct button as they had done at Wallasey last week and collapsed to 144 all out with Tom Sephton taking 5-69. scorecard

Second placed Ormskirk were denied a win by New Brighton's last pair at Brook Lane. Matty Glayzer hit 106* from 77 balls with 17x4s and 3x6s as Ormskirk went from 57-3 to 220-7d after 47.2 overs. Ashraf Nawab took 3-33 and Andy Evans 3-39 on a rare first eleven appearance. New Brighton have struggled during the season and are still not out of the 'drop zone'. With Adnan Ghaus earlier hitting 43, Luke Procter (75) and Lawrence Wilson (30) took the Rakers within range of their target but when they were  separated at 207-8, fourteen runs were still required from eleven balls. They could only reach 214-9 and had to be satisfied with a draw. scorecard

Leigh are chasing Lytham for third place after beating Wallasey by 115 runs at the Oval. They collapsed to 82-6 (Steve Mullaney 41) but Joe Davies (55) and Adam Shallcross (56) added 103 for the seventh wicket before Mattie McKiernan called time at 229-8 from 53.4 overs, Neil Cross taking 3-50. Wallasey never got going and were all out for 114 with Mullaney taking 6-35. scorecard

Bootle posted 250-8d in 44 overs against Southport and Birkdale with Jordan Evans hitting his first century since moving to Bootle from Colwyn Bay. He hit 119 from 94 balls with 17x4s and 1x6 out of 163 added whilst he was at the crease. Chris Firth took 4-62. The Sandgrounders were no match for Bootle when it came to batting with the exception of Kyle Cranston (49) and Scott Lees (31) who took the score from 15-5 to 86-6 but there was little else and they were dismissed for 111 in 30.5 overs, Will Purser taking 5-47 and Chris Cunningham 3-20. scorecard

Highfield's defeat by Fleetwood Hesketh puts them back in the bottom two. Highfield asked Hesketh to bat and they declared at 178-9 after 55 overs with Adnan Malik hitting 62, his highest score of the season. Andrea Agathangelou took 4-70 and Chris Liptrot 3-45. Adnan Malik then rounded off the match with 6-27 as Highfield's batting failed again to leave them 114 all out. scorecard

Another relegation battle saw Hightown's last chance of survival in the ECB Premier League evaporate after losing at Maghull. The home side's innings began poorly with the score being 73-6 at one stage before Chris Barlow (62) and 17 year old debutant Joe Bennett (35) added 86 for the seventh wicket. With wicket keeper Paul McKenna adding an unbeaten 27, Maghull were all out for 227. Hightown skipper, Adam Phillips hit his second century in three matches, 103 from 97 balls with 12x4s and 3x6s, but it was not enough as the Sandy Lane club were all out five runs short of their target with Chris Tonge taking 4-30 and Ryan Swiers 4-99. scorecard
