First Division - The Bay make Park wait for title

Colwyn Bay gave their promotion hopes a boost by winning at Birkenhead Park, who now lead Rainhill by twenty points. Adam Liu hit 54 as Park slid from 107-4 to 130 all out after 45.3 overs with Paul Jenkins taking 5-22. Colwyn Bay struggled and at one stage were 94-8 but Sion Morris (50*) and Sam Roberts (24*) took them to 132-8 despite Rob Houghton taking 5-43. Second placed Rainhill were skittled for 68 at Liverpool thanks to Christian Edwards (5-19) and Lance Mulholland (5-40). Liverpool had earlier reached 168 in 65.3 overs with Waqar Khan top scoring with 60 and Mohammad Aslam bowling 29.3 overs in taking 7-34. scorecard

Orrell Red Triangle are another team with a chance of promotion after beating local rivals Wigan by 31 runs. Orrell lost Mark Friend for 0, but his brother Scott joined Dave Naylor (53) and the pair added 111 for the second wicket. When Scott was out for 115 (132 balls, 11x4s, 5x6s), Orrell declared on 256-4 after 48 overs. Ainsdale won the west coast derby against Formby. They declared on 190-9 after 46.2 overs with Adam Friar hitting 53 and Andy Barlow 35 with three wickets each for Matt Dearden and Mark O'Connor. Formby reached 138-3 (Jude Mahadanaarachchi 44) but then collapsed to 152 all out as Friar completed his day with 5-37 and Nazim Mohammed 3-19. scorecard

Newton le Willows might have sent Parkfield Liscard back to the Second Division with their win at Crow Lane East but are still in the danger area. Newton were struggling at 121-6 but recovered to 199-6d after 60 overs thanks to an unbeaten 65 by Mike Walkden. Walken then bowled unchanged for 22 overs and took 5-52 as Parkfield were bowled out for 159 (Faisal Ashraf 58). scorecard

Daron Cruickshank sent Northop Hall into the bottom two with a one man show for Rainford at Smithy Lane. Commencing his innings at 41-3, he hit 141 not out from 124 balls with 15x4s and 5x6s out of the 206 added whilst he was at the crease. Rainford declared at 247-7, Daniel Clubbe (3-50). In reply, Will Higginson (47) and Nasrullah Khan (48) opened with 97 before Sam Jackson added 36 but then disaster struck as the last seven wickets fell for 38 with Cruickshank taking 6-61 and John Dotters 3-47. scorecard
