Obituary - Alan Margerison
Thursday 13th April 2017

The death has been announced of Alan Margerison. He is the third member of the very successful Southport and Birkdale side of the 1970s to pass away in recent weeks. He was 78.

Originally playing at Enfield in the Lancashire League, Alan was an off spin bowler and possessed both skill and guile. He was never afraid to give the ball air when necessary and he was one of the most valuable, albeit quieter members of the most consistently successful Southport and Birkdale side in recent years.

He was a member of championship winning sides in 1975 and 1979. He also won the Sykes and Waterhouse Shield and Martini Cup with the Trafalgar Road side in 1980 and 1982 respectively.

Alan's funeral will be held at Southport Crematorium (Southport Road, Scarisbrick, Southport PR8 5JQ) at 10:45am on Wednesday 19th April 2017.
