World Cup drivel
Thursday 5th July 2018

It's beyond belief what drivel you read on the greentop. This has turned our once highly rated cricket league into a running joke. As if our matches weren't long enough already, do we want then extended by a further two hours?

Our title is LIVERPOOL AND DISTRICT CRICKET COMPETITION. There is a clue in the title that tells you to which sport we are linked. If you want to watch football, stay at home or watch the replay on Match of the Day later in the evening,

The league's unbelievable Management Committee has posted the following on its greentop joke of a website, assuming that EVERYBODY would rather take a break during their cricket match to watch England play Sweden than play cricket. Having a tea interval extended by 90 minutes or more turns the cricket match into a non event. What do you do if you don't want to watch the football? Have a sleep in your car for two hours? Whoever the idiot is who came up with the idea needs to be castrated and put out of his misery.

Teams didn't have time out to watch the World Cup final in 1966. It wasn't even considered because then we had a sensible Management Committee.

SATURDAY 7th JULY OPTION FOR REVISED START AND TEA TIMES

As the England World Cup game is to be played at 3:00pm on Saturday 7th July, the following OPTION is being made to all games due to be played within the Liverpool Gin Liverpool Competition that day.

1st X1's start time to be moved from 1:00pm to 11:00am with a break between 3:00pm and 5:00pm. Tea which would normally be taken under the new arrangement at 2:15pm will be voided with play (including change of innings of 10 mins) continuing until 3:00pm when Tea will officially be taken. Play will resume again at 5:00pm unless circumstances of the football game indicate otherwise, in which case the umpires in charge have a flexibility (in the knowledge of good weather) to re-set the times.

The following process must be followed:

Both teams must agree to the change. If not, then the normal arrangements apply.

IMPORTANTLY the home team must notify and agree with the allocated umpires that they can make the new start time. The contact numbers of umpires can be found on page 126 of the Comp handbook. If any difficulty John Farrell has agreed to try and help on 07812 986795.

This must be done by no later than 8:00pm on Friday 6th July

2nd and 3rd X1's start time to be moved from 1:45pm to 11:45pm with a break between 3:00pm and 5:00pm. Tea which would normally be taken under the new arrangement at 2:45pm will be taken at 3:00pm. Play will resume again at 5:00pm unless circumstances of the football game indicate otherwise, in which case the umpires/officials in charge have a flexibility (in the knowledge of good weather) to re-set the times.

The following process must be followed.

Both teams must agree to the change. If not then normal arrangements apply.

This must be done by no later than 8:00pm on Friday 6th July.

There is no need to notify the League. Record details on the MRF.

This diatribe was clearly written by an idiot, who calls it a 'football game'? It's a 'football match' and if you must attempt to be clever and use Roman numerals, it's XI and not X1 which is meaningless. But there again, you can't educate ones who have been certified as being 'thick'.
