Aughton seeks on loan players
Friday 1st March 2019

Aughton Cricket Club has being playing in the Southport and District Amateur Cricket League for over 40 years. Their ground is at Winifred Lane, Aughton where they play in the second division of the league.

In recent years, Aughton have along with other local clubs struggled and have gone from running three teams to now just the one.

Aughton would like to explore the possibility under the new loan system to see if any Liverpool Competition clubs would be interested in speaking to us about this. We would though like to make it clear that we are not trying to ‘poach’ players from Competition clubs and we would see the arrangement as follows.

We would like to target any players who are currently not being selected for Saturday cricket. We see this as younger players who would play junior cricket during the week and Sunday third or fourth team cricket for their parent club but not Saturdays. Under the loan system the benefits are:

l  The parent club can recall the player at any time if required.

l  Aughton CC would provide competitive Saturday cricket and would give the player a decent opportunity to contribute with the bat and ball.

l  For any young player Associate Membership of Aughton would be free and a reasonable match fee of £5.00 is charged. Transport can be provided.

We think this is a great opportunity for 2 or 3 young players to become Associate Members of Aughton for the 2019 season giving them competitive adult cricket when otherwise they wouldn’t get a game, meaning they will gain valuable experience for when they are ready play senior cricket for their Liverpool Competition Clubs. Ideally we would like to develop a relationship with one club as the young players on loan to Aughton would already know each other.

Aughton Cricket Club’s motive is purely to help us put a team out on a Saturday, help safe guard our clubs future whilst we try and develop some of our own players and also help bringing on some future Liverpool Competition players.
