ECB Premier League - Mark Rowland century takes the Rakers to the top

New Brighton are top of the table tonight, a point ahead of Formby, after beating Colwyn Bay by seven wickets at Rake Lane. The Bay were reduced to 64-5 after winning the toss but Will Higginson (41) helped them take the total to 143 all out after 45.5 overs with Ashraf Nawab taking 4-34. The Rakers lost three wickets for 78 including Dan Cooke for 30, but then stand in captain Mark Rowland took charge so much so that his partner John While scored just four runs in an unbroken fourth wicket partnership of 69. Rowland finished with 106 not out from 85 balls with 15x4s and 4x6s.  scorecard

Leigh elected to bat at Cricket Path and posted 234-8d in 53.3 overs with five batsmen hitting thirties. George Burrows took 3-54. Formby lost two early wickets in reply and three more by the time they had reached 88 but then Sam Oldham (112*, 125 balls, 11x4s, 2x6s) and Ben Aitchison (65*, 94 balls, 5x4s, 1x6) added an unbroken 150 for the sixth wicket to seal victory.  scorecard

There was a meeting of the promoted teams at the YMCA Ground where Orrell Red Triangle collapsed to 156 all out after Andy Baybutt hit 76 with Chris Cunningham taking 5-62 and Gary Keedy, 3-41. After the interval, Southport and Birkdale were bundled out for 93 thanks to Tom Jones (4-35) and Siddiq Patel (3-27). Opener Isaac Lea top scored for the Sandgrounders with 40.  scorecard

Ormskirk are up to fourth after hitting 220-3d in 51 overs at Rainhill. Tyler McGladdery hit 33 on his return to his former club before George Lavelle hit 101 from 116 balls with 8x4s and 3x6s and added 135 for the third wicket with Alex Rankin who hit an unbeaten 79 (122 balls, 7x4s, 1x6). In reply, Rainhill limped their way to 114 all out after 39.2 overs with Jamie Barnes taking 4-18 and Scott Lees, 3-28. Former Sefton Park player, Sean Vandome hit 32 and Ormskirk wicket keeper Gary Knight claimed four victims (ct 3, st 1).  scorecard

Old enemies met at Moor Park where Northern took 56.3 overs to reach 134 all out against Bootle of which opener, and former Lytham batsman Tyler Cornall was last out for 80. Will Purser took 3-31. The score at tea was 120-8 after 53 overs. Bootle collapsed to 96-7 but Vishal Tripathi hit 86 not out to see them through by two wickets with Tom Sephton taking 4-53 and Liam Grey, 3-46.  scorecard

Wallasey went to Lytham and eventually reached 165-8d after 55 overs as Sumit Ruikar top scored with 58. Lytham collapsed to 109-8 before recovering to 151 all out with Ruikar taking 5-75.  scorecard
