Obituary - Eric Chadwick
Wednesday 15th May 2019
St Helens Recs, now Town, have lost there second former player within twenty-four hours with the announcement of the death of Eric Chadwick who passed away today at the age of 69 after a long stay in hospital.
'Chaddy', as he was known, was a talented cricketer and a great character off the field as well as on.
He first played for Westhoughton and then St Helens Recs, as they were known at the time, before moving to Orrell Red Triangle where he opened the batting for the successful side of the 1990s. He often combined this with bowling his off spin and, when required, keeping wicket.
Later in his career, he was Orrell's 2nd XI captain.
Eric was also an excellent footballer and played semi professional for a number of years when he was young; and played golf to a good standard.
For many years he was head of Sport at Cardinal Heenan HS in Liverpool.
Condolences go the Eric's family as well as St Helens Town and Orrell Red Triangle Cricket Clubs.
