Act of violence abandons Lancashire Knockout match
Sunday 19th May 2019

A Lancashire Cricket Foundation Knockout Cup match had to be abandoned this afternoon following an altercation between two players.

Eccleston had completed their first innings on 146 and Rainhill were on 117-4 after 31.2 overs in reply when one of their batsman, Paul Ford, was alleged to have headbutted Eccleston bowler Iain Bradley after being given out, caught by wicket keeper Adam Norris.

The umpires abandoned the game due to the assault on the bowler.

It was later stated that Rainhill had conceded the match.
