Obituary - Barry James Littler
Saturday 1st August 2020

It is regret that we report the death on Monday 29th June of former St Helens Recs player, Barry James Littler. He was 72 years old.

He made his 1st XI début in 1964 and scored 57 in his first innings against Hightown at Ruskin Drive.

After scoring an unbeaten 73 against Northern in 1965, he went through an horrific spell of being dismissed without scoring in five out of six innings including four in succession.

In 1966, Barry missed out on what would have been his only century when his captain declared when he was on 98 against Northern.

He was a member of the Liverpool Competition winning side of 1978.

He played in the 1st XI until 1981 by which time he had amassed 4254 runs in 237 matches with 15 fifties. He also claimed 47 wickets and took 71 catches.

His funeral was on Thursday 9th July at St Helens Crematorium.

Friends and colleagues offer their condolences to Barry's family and St Helens Recs, now St Helens Town Cricket Club.
