First Division - His 6-47 takes Jenkins nearer to 1000 wickets

Colwyn Bay helped themselves to a six wicket win against Ainsdale in their delayed start to the season. Paul Jenkins (pictured left) inched his way nearer 1000 wickets with 6-47, his 54th haul of five wickets or more, in Ainsdale's total of 115 out of which Mark Lucas hit 71. Paul requires a further 13 for 1000 L&DCC league wickets. Former captain, Sion Morris, hit 34 as the Bay went on to 119-4.  scorecard

Highfield have opened a ten point lead after gaining a second maximum, this time at Birkenhead Park. They piled up 240-5d in 50 overs with Madduma Lakmal (56*) and Harry Moxham (32*) adding an unbroken 86 for the sixth wicket. They then dismissed Park for 144 with Sam Rotherham taking 4-42 and Lakmal 3-17.  scorecard

Lytham had a second win at Liverpool and are ten points behind Highfield. The Aigburth Road team lost Steve Rimmer for 0 and slumped to 58-4 but Liam Naylor (71) and Daniel Kelly (53) added 95 for the fifth wicket to steer them to an all out total of 195 with Tom Hessey taking a career best 6-59. Lytham's opener Ed Fiddler then helped himself to a career best 82 as they overtook Liverpool's total for the loss of six wickets with wicket keeper Richard Staines hitting 33 not out despite Jared Clein taking 5-54.  scorecard

Newton le Willows celebrated their late start with a win at Northop Hall who declared at 184-9 after 55 overs. Will Higginson hit 42 on his return from Colwyn Bay with Alex Smith adding 39 and Alastair Andrady 33. Ali Sartaj took 4-62 and Ben Walkden 3-34. Walkden (78*) and Marc de Brabander (68) then opened Newton to Willows' innings with a partnership of 100 before a 27 from Chris Chambers took them to victory at 185-3 in the 54th over.  scorecard

Opener Matthew North hit a maiden 1st XI century, 128 from 143 balls with 18x4s and 3x6s, as Old Xaverians were all out for 234 at Rainford after 55 overs with John Dotters taking 6-71. Rainford slumped to 38-3 but a fourth wicket partnership of 113 between Will Shuttleworth (94) and Mark Potter (51) took them towards their target before a collapse left them at 190-7.  scorecard

The match at Ruskin Drive lasted just 54.4 overs after Fleetwood Hesketh bowled out St Helens Town for 64 with Ryan Thomas taking 3-11, Sabbir Patel 3-16 and Steve Gregory 3-19. Hesketh then lost five wickets in their winning reply with Lee Rimmer 44 not out, Jimmy Davies taking 3-25.  scorecard
