Neighbours meet in Liverpool Echo Knockout Trophy semi finals

Liverpool Echo Knockout Trophy quarter finals:

Formby elected to bat at Cricket Path in their quarter final tie against Wallasey with James Marshall (45) top scoring in a total of 94-8. Wallasey, in reply, had 2.5 overs to spare as Paul Strang (45*) and Richard Conlan (30*) saw the Wirral team home by nine wickets with the score on 97-1.

Wallasey travel to neighbours New Brighton in the semi final in a fortnight's time after the Rakers claimed a last ball six wicket victory over St Helens. Being asked to bat, Saints were 135-8 after their 20 overs, Darren Tyms (46*), Sanjay Pandey (31) with Martyn Evans claiming 4-37, Daren Peters (2-30) and Chandika Hathurusingha (2-25).

New Brighton had only reached 37-2 after the first ten overs of their innings but managed to score 100 from the next ten. They finished on 137-4 thanks to Hathurusingha's 68* (9x4s) and Evans (27) with Adam Friar's 2-55 including 17 from the final over.

Bootle met former Liverpool Competition side, Oxton at Wadham Road and posted 141-5 after being asked to bat, Richard Hignett scoring 79. In reply, Oxton ended on 115-8.
