Littlewoods Gaming Knockout Trophy - Lamb takes lbw hat trick as Bootle oust Southport
Sunday 3rd August 2003

Bootle recorded a comprehensive victory over First Division leaders, Southport and Birkdale, in their third round Littlewoods Gaming Knockout Trophy tie at Wadham Road.

Without Richard Hignett and Robin Fisher, Bootle slid to 33-4 but John Hitchmough (102) joined Jamie Keggin (51) to add 151 for the fifth wicket before finally closing on 228-6, Nilesh Kulkarni (3-44) and Mal Swift (3-46).

After the tea interval, Charlie Lamb (4-11) ripped through the Southport top order with an all lbw hat trick to leave them struggling at 12-5. Kulkarni (37*) tried to salvage the innings but ran out of partners as Chris Sainsbury (4-14) mopped up the tail to leave the visitors 51 all out from 16 overs with three lbws apiece to Lamb and Sainsbury.
