Wallasey's date at Old Trafford
Friday 29th August 2003

Meanwhile, Wallasey play Walkden in the final of the Thwaites Lancashire Knockout Cup at Old Trafford on Sunday, a match that was postponed a fortnight ago after the death of Kevin McCullagh.

Wallasey captain Mike Beaver says: 'It's going to be a tough game and Walkden are the holders. We hope to play well. We're a match for most sides. Generally we have been successful in knockouts over the years as was seen with our Cheshire Knockout treble. To play well is the most important thing.

"We will have to play better that we did against New Brighton on Monday because we were absolutely dreadful. We're looking forward to the game.

Beaver added: "We will miss Kevin but life goes on. We know he was looking forward to playing at Old Trafford. We will try to win the game for the club and play in a way that would have pleased him. It's a big shame he will not be there."

Wallasey's team for Sunday is: Mike Beaver (captain), Dave Hadden (wkt kpr), Rob Turnbull, Phil Luxon, Paul Strang, Dave Conlan, Mike Hughes, Chris Bourne, David Miles, Nick Doggett, Paul Thistlewaite.
