Saturday 27th March 2004

Southport and Birkdale, back in the ECB Premier League after three seasons in the First Division, retain the services of Nilesh Kulkarni and Mike Smethurst.

Former Hightown skipper Ian Cropper will captain the Sandgrounders who have lost skipper Mal Swift. Swift scored 509 runs and took 74 wickets in last season's campaign and will leave a void in the side.

Batsman Mark Fletcher returns after five seasons at neighbouring Fleetwood Hesketh, whilst former wicket keeper Mark Baker also returns to Trafalgar Road after a season at Premier League side Ormskirk.
