Liverpool Echo KO final - Bootle retain trophy

Bootle retained the Liverpool Echo Knockout Trophy after a 7 wicket win over St Helens Recs at Wadham Road.

Losing the toss, St Helens Recs took first knock in the two innings per side final and only managed 63 all out (Mark Malone 27) from 18.3 overs with paceman Ronnie Davis claiming 6-5 and yesterday's hat trick hero, Charlie Lamb, 2-14.

Bootle only lost two wickets in their first innings reply as they raced to 132 in their 20 overs, Graham Lloyd being 47* and Paddy McKeown 33.

Recs did better second time around, totalling 114-9 (Steve Garvey 28, Richard Chee Quee 26) with Davis taking 2-13 and David Snellgrove 4-29.

Left with a target of only 46, Bootle lost 3 wickets en route to a winning total after 10.2 overs with John Hitchmough 20 and Graeme Jones 18*.
