First Division - Rain ruins promotion battle
Saturday 3rd September 2011

What should have been the division's match of the day turned into a damp squib as leaders Maghull faced just 6.1 overs in making 24-1 against third placed Wallasey. The result was of particular interest to Southport and Birkdale who did not have a match and remain in second place. scorecard

Wigan had a shock at Rainhill where they were dismissed 52 with Mohammad Qureshi taking 6-14 and Phil Veacock 4-5. Mike Rotheram (22) and Qureshi (26*) then hit off the necessary runs for an easy nine wicket win, taking them into fourth place instead of Wigan. scorecard

Sefton Park reached 40-4 after 15.1 overs at Formby before proceedings were brought to a premature end. scorecard
