TD Parr
26-12-1950 to 01-11-2012

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Dave Parr at the age of 61 after a long illness.

Dave was well known in sporting circles in St Helens and district. He played football, rugby union and particularly cricket for clubs attached to the old Pilkington Recreation Club as well as being a stalwart of the St Helens Snooker League.

He had been an enthusiastic schoolboy sportsman in all disciplines.

A pivotal member of the St Helens Recs cricket team of the 70s and 80s culminated in winning the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition in 1978. An extremely accurate opening bowler with Geoff Leather, they comprised one of the best opening attacks in the league regularly sharing 60 or so wickets.

Latterly, despite ill health, he concentrated on arranging sporting reunions both schoolboy (he was proud to be a member of the first St Helens Schools football tour) and for St Helens Recs. He spent many hours contacting colleagues and processing team photographs.

He will be sadly missed by all his team mates and we offer our sincere condolensces to his wife Glenis, son Neil, daughter Alison and grandchildren Callum and Olivia.

The funeral will be at St Teresa of Avila RC Church, Devon Street, St Helens WA10 4HX at 12:30pm on Friday 9th November with committal following at St Helens Crematorium, Rainford Road, St Helens WA10 6DF at 1:30pm.
