Obituary - Alexander Jason Miller
Sunday 16th December 2012
The Liverpool Competition was shocked today by the tragic news that a 24 year old cricketer on Merseyside had died on Friday last.
Raised in South Africa, Alexander 'Alex' Jason Miller joined Sefton Park Cricket Club three years ago and, after playing in their lower teams, became a regular in their second eleven during 2012 as a wicketkeeper/batsman.
The club's website paid its tribute by saying: "We have lost our finest competitor. our hardest working and most enthusiastic cricketer, a friendly and generous man and a great friend."
Sefton's Graham Smith added, "Alex was a real plus last season, a very naturally talented wicketkeeper and he showed a steady improvement with his batting. His enthusiasm for cricket was second to none and he loved every second of the game. His father, Ray, was always present to encourage and support Alex in the sport he loved."
Alex's friends and colleagues extend their condolences to his family and Sefton Park Cricket Club during this troubled time.
Alex's funeral service will be in the Rosemary Chapel at Springwood Crematorium on Thursday 3rd January 2013 at 12:00 noon.
This will be followed by an interment in Allerton Cemetery.
Following this, all are welcome to Sefton Park Cricket Club.
The family requests that there be no flowers but anyone wishing to make a donation should do so to Sefton Park Cricket Club.
