First class début for Wigan spinner

Today an eighteen year old leg spinner from Wigan fulfilled his dream of playing first class cricket.
Having already played for their 2nd XI, Matthew Critchley (pictured left) became the 712th player to play for Derbyshire's 1st XI when he made his first class début for the county in their LV= County Championship match at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff against Glamorgan.
Born in Preston, Lancashire, Matthew made his Liverpool Competition début for Wigan in 2012 as a fifteen year old, scoring an unbeaten 61 and taking 1-31 at Ainsdale.
Since then he has held his place in the Wigan team, scoring 1090 runs in 61 matches at an average of 30.27 with a highest score of 93* against Wavertree in 2014.
As a bowler, his leg spin has taken him to 91 wickets at an average of 21.65 with a best of 6-44 against Northop Hall in 2014.
