Sunday's Knockout results - Wins for Bootle
Sunday 10th May 2015
There were four matches played today in second round of the Royal London Club Championship.
Lytham's defeat at Chorley left just two teams to represent the LDCC in the competition. Lytham were dismissed for 115 before losing by four wickets.
Colwyn Bay went to Nantwich, the scene of first round carnage where the home side rattled up 579-7 against lowly Caldy. This time the Cheshire County League side didn't have to slip into overdrive as the Bay collapsed from 92-4 to 113 all out after 40 overs with only Andy Campion (50) and Sion Morris (16) reaching double figures whilst Oliver Griffiths took 4-16 and Ben Mogg, 3-29. Ryan Brown (54*) then led Nantwich to victory by seven wickets after 29 overs.
There was an all Competition fixture at Rake Lane where New Brighton met Northern. The Rakers elected to bat and reached 211 after 44.4 overs. John While top scored with 56 and added 92 for the fourth wicket with brother David who made 31. Liam Grey was Northern's best bowler with 3-41. Stephen Lucas hit 90 as Northern won by two wickets with ten balls remaining. Northern now host Nantwich at Moor Park.
Ormskirk played Bootle at Wadham Road. They started badly with Matty Glayzer and Mike Jones being out with only five on the board. Ian Robinson (69) led a recovery as Ormskirk reached 160-8 in their 45 overs with Will Purser taking 5-15. Bootle's innings was built around former captain David Snellgrove who opened and was out for 86 in the forty-third over with just five runs required.
