Rainhill are the first team through to the second round of this season's Liverpool Echo Invitation Knockout Trophy after beating Sutton by 30 runs at New Street. Ben Edmundson hit 33 in a Rainhill total of 124-7 and then took 5-20 as Sutton were dismissed for 94,

Matthew Critchley has experienced both ends of the cricketing spectrum this week. From becoming Derbyshire's youngest centurion on Sunday, he could only manage three runs as Wigan totalled 101 in tonight's NatWest CLUB T20 match against Maghull at Bull Hey, Jack Snowdon taking 4-22. Wigan fought back to have the visitors shuddering on 51-5 but John Fitzgerald (43*) and Liam Crilly (17*) saw them through to the next round with a ball remaining.

The final match of the evening was a one sided affair that saw Northern rattle up 193-3 against St Helens Town at Moor Park after Stephen Lucas (61, 40 balls, 8x4s, 2x6s) and Davy Smith (76*, 58 balls, 10x4s, 1x6) had opened with a partnership of 136 in 13.4 overs. Paul Meadows took 3-45. A shell shocked Town then collapsed to 63 all out with Paul Park taking 3-12.
