Second Division - Burscough back to winning ways as they demolish Old Xavs

After blotting their copy book last week against Spring View. Burscough are back to winning ways. They bowled out promotion contenders, Old Xaverians for 65 with Rob Glaysher taking 4-11 and Jon Stone, 4-32. Navdeep Aujla then hit 33 not out as the leaders won by nine wickets.  scorecard

Sutton are the surprise team of the season and are now in second place after their win by six wickets in a high scoring match against Caldy at Paton Field. Caldy were inserted and captain Chris Edwards, who opened the innings batted throughout to end with 102 not out (153 balls, 14x4s, 1x6) in a total of 223-6d after 55 overs, Jamie Greener taking 3-82. When Sutton replied, it was their captain and opener, Adam Onion who became the second centurion of the match as he hit an unbeaten 108 (144 balls, 17x4s, 3x6s) in guiding the visitors to 225-4 after 45.2 overs and a valuable twenty points.  scorecard

Alder drop to fourth after losing at ninth placed Hightown St Mary's by five wickets. With the exception of Abdur Rehman who hit 70, Alder's batting was an utter disaster as they could only reach 120 with Aman Jain taking 6-35. Steve Leyland (32) and Kamran Hussain (31*) then steered Hightown to 122-5 in the thirty-sixth over.  scorecard

Alex Dean (77 not out) and Lewis Matthews (77) shared an opening partnership of 133 for Spring View at Wavertree as the Wigan side went onto 246-3d after 42 overs with Akbar Rehman adding 33 and Marc Birch 42 not out. Left with 49 overs, Wavertree closed the match on 173-6 after being 91-4 at one stage.  scorecard

Struggling Parkfield Liscard posted 164 at Orrell Red Triangle after 59 overs, being 139-7 at the 55 over mark. Sadrey Depieza top scored with 48 and Gareth Houghton took 3-22. Orrell had Dave Naylor and Richard Everett back in the pavilion with only eight runs on the board but Bevan Small (76 not out) and captain Andrew Mottram (67 not out) added an unbeaten 159 to see them through by eight wickets.  scorecard

Lowly Birkenhead St Mary's are firmly entrenched at the foot of the table after losing to Skelmersdale by 44 runs at Ashville Road following a late start owing to morning rain. The visitors were struggling at 74-6 but Arslan Dar (44*) steered them to 161-9d after 34.5 overs despite twenty year old Sam Black returning a career best 7-86. Mary's plummeted to 60-7 before Tom McLoughlin (35) and Jake Fitzmaurice (28) added 56 for the eight wicket but they were all out for 117 with Adeel Baig taking 6-37 and Sam Callow 3-20.  scorecard
