ECB Premier League - Centuries for McKiernan and Cole secure wins, Ormskirk win at the Bay

A maiden century by Mattie McKiernan. 101 from 95 balls with 8x4s and 8x6s, and a second wicket partnership of 153 with Luis Reece, who made 65, ensured Leigh remain at the top of the table after beating Wallasey at the Oval. The home side lost Greg Beaver and Martin Williams cheaply before captain Danny Beaver came to the rescue with 91. Andrew Ward added 37 as the innings continued after tea when the score was 132-5 from 55 overs. The declaration came at 180-7 after 65 overs. Leigh needed 35.5 overs for their winning reply for the loss of three wickets.  scorecard

Northern hold on to second place after James Cole sacrificed bonus points to let his younger brother, Stephen, reach a maiden century against Formby at Moor Park. In an innings where the next highest scorer was Jack Boardman with 22, the younger Cole took control from the start and was last out for 105 (153 balls, 10x4s, 2x6s)  at 196-7 after 57 overs with Stephen Parry taking 3-34. Dane Williams hit 50 for Formby who lost their last five wickets for 35 runs to be 163 all out with Tom Sephton taking 4-46 and Ryan Maddock, 3-54.  scorecard

Third placed Ormskirk picked up twenty-five points after romping to 222-7d in 48 overs against Colwyn Bay. Ian Robinson hit an unbeaten 73 from 87 balls with 7x4s and 3x6s with Paul Jenkins taking 4-86. Simon Kerrigan proved he is fit again after a back injury by taking 5-36 in ten overs as the Bay crumbled to 137 all out in 48 overs.  scorecard

Bootle are eight points behind Ormskirk following an early finish against Rainhill at Wadham Road. Chris Liptrot bowled unchanged for nineteen overs and picked up 7-44 as the visitors were reduced to 104 in 37.5 overs with Sam Kershaw hitting 66. In reply, David Snellgrove fell for 1 before Jackson Knight (44) and Mike Farrell (43*) took Bootle to an eight wicket win in twenty-six overs.  scorecard

New Brighton climb a slot to fifth after a victory at Birkenhead Park. Park slipped to 11-3 but Luke Camden (42) and Craig Reid (41) brought a recovery that took them to 173 all out after 67.3 overs, David While taking 3-43. Rakers' skipper Mark Rowland led the reply with 89 (81 balls, 14x4s, 3x6s) and with Andrew Clarke adding an unbeaten 43, the win by seven wickets came after just 29.3 overs to leave the home side firmly anchored at the foot of the table, twenty-nine points behind Wallasey.  scorecard

Rainford are now just 10 points above the drop zone after being skittled for 94 by Lytham at the Jubilee Ground where Anthony Mulligan took 4-30 and Toby Lester, 3-18. Earlier, Lytham were flying high at 206-4 after Dominic O'Brien (75) and Luke Williams added 102 for the fourth wicket but a flurry of wickets took them to 224-8d after 55 overs with Williams being denied a maiden century. He remained unbeaten on 96 from 106 balls with 7x4s and 6x6s as John Dotters finished with 4-64 and Bokang Mosena, 3-30.  scorecard
