First Division - Wigan's last pair hang on for a draw at Burscough

The top two teams in the division, Burscough and Wigan, clashed at School Lane and finished with Wigan's last pair, George Burrows and Mark Rowe, hanging on for a draw. Burscough had earlier made 187-7d in 62 overs with Navdeep Aujla hitting 67, Brendan Domigan 33 and James Moy taking 3-43. After the break, Wigan were soon in trouble, losing opener Jake Leyland for 4 and Aaron Redmond for a two ball duck. Other wickets fell and they staggered to 106-9 at the close with Jon Stone taking 4-34.  scorecard

Third placed Fleetwood Hesketh could have topped the table tonight had they not lost to Newton le Willows by 37 runs at Crow Lane East. Newton reached 202-8d after 55 overs with skipper Mike Walkden top scoring with 46 and Marasinghe Perera taking 5-90 in twenty overs. Furqan Shafiq followed up his 39 with 6-46 as Hesketh were dismissed for 165, Lee Rimmer hitting 46 and Lee Bolton, 36.  scorecard

Northop Hall remain in fourth place after drawing at Orrell Red Triangle where the home side reached 221 all out after 54 overs with opener and captain, Andrew Mottram, hitting 68 and Petrus Jeftha 61. James Hurlin took 6-93 in twenty-three overs for Hall. Hall's skipper Alex Smith hit 52 but the other batsmen struggled as they finished on 153-8 after 50 overs.  scorecard

Sefton Park stay in fifth place after picking up twenty points at Prestatyn after spinners Robbie Houghton (4-34) and Peter Kelly (4-45) kept the home side to 143 all out after 52.4 overs. Daniel Coonan led the reply with an unbeaten 65 to see Sefton home by seven wickets after 33.3 overs.  scorecard

Ainsdale lie in seventh place after thrashing Highfield by 136 runs at Billinge Road. Ainsdale lost two early wickets to be 9-2 but Andy Barlow hit 43 and featured in a third wicket partnership of 139 with Mark Lucas who was out two runs short of a second century in a total of 206-7d after 53 overs. Malcolm Swift then took 5-31 and Martyn Farrell 3-23 as Highfield were bundled out for 70 in  23.1 overs.  scorecard

The remaining match saw ninth placed Southport and Birkdale, who had only one win in their last six matches play bottom team, Maghull at Trafalgar Road. Andy Warhurst took 5-34 and Chris Brownlow, 4-25, as the visitors were bowled out for 98 in 36.2 overs. The Sandgrounders collapsed to 18-4 but Nick Knight hit 52 not out and with last man Warhurst (9*), saw them home by one wicket at 99-9.  scorecard
