Notice of 2017 AGM
Sunday 11th December 2016

The 2017 AGM will be held at Bootle Cricket Club on Tuesday 10th January at 7:30pm.

Clubs are reminded that attendance is mandatory.

Like an aged dictator of a two bit one party banana republic, we have the President patting himself on the back saying "2017 will be my ninth year as your President and I can't believe how quickly the time has gone.  I still get involved with many of the management functions because of my previous roles on the committee ? helping with the fixtures and cup draws, overseeing the work of the Assistant Results Secretaries and the resulting club fines, assisting with the administration of the web-sites, maintaining club and ground assessment records and the R&R Handbook documents, and last, but not least, being Secretary to the Disciplinary Committee."

Rule 4.1.6 of the Constitution states 'a person will not hold more than one office concurrently', this person is doing eight. It proves that what people think is correct. With the exception of the Secretary and the Treasurer, the people on the Management Committee are just names on a piece of paper as they don't do anything because the President does the work for them. As for the interloper from the wastelands north of St Helens, he rapidly became the most hated person in the league with his retarded woolly back mentality and has done nothing but drag it down to his dismal level by poaching promising young players from neighbouring clubs.

Don't the clubs know this is going on or are they just not bothered?

We used to have a handbook, envied by many, packed with statistics that was worthy of a place on a shelf in any high street book shop, but in recent years that was replaced by two which contained rules, phone numbers and fixtures but no statistics. For 2017, there will be just one book to 'save money and hopefully improve its usefulness.' It had better be a good one but we very much doubt it. Like with the website, clubs are being charged for this. Another con trick. Why are they talking about saving money when there's a small fortune in the bank? Is there something we don't know that prevents it from being used?

The notice of the AGM, see below, indicates that the league has in excess of ?45,000 gathering dust in its bank accounts and yet it still charges clubs nearly ?2,000 per annum for its website.

Each year were see rules being changed for changing sake and this year we have a proposal for the Ray Digman Trophy and Chester Cup to be contested over four rounds by the teams that finished in the top 16 of their respective tables in 2016, with the remaining 20 teams playing in new knockout competitions over five rounds. (proposal 18)

The proposal reads:

1.1   ?Ray Digman Trophy? and 'Chester Cup' (hereafter designated 1st XI  and 2nd XI KO)

1.1.1  These competitions are both split into two parts, the top 16 teams from the 2016 league tables competing for the Ray Digman Trophy and the Chester Cup and the remaining 20 will compete for a pair of new and additional  1st XI  KO and 2nd XI KO cups (hereafter temporarily designated 1st XI A and 2nd XI A KO)

1.1.3  The rounds of these competitions will be scheduled so that dates for the 2nd XI KOs are earlier than the corresponding dates for the 1st XI KOs. The 1st XI KO first round will be scheduled to follow the third round of the LCB knock out competition.

1.1.4  Where 1st and 2nd XIs of the same club reach the final the draws for venue will be managed to ensure that the club does not host both finals.

Matches will be played on Sundays.

The proposal also sensibly includes the abolition of the ridiculous redraw after each round. Instead, the draw will be made at the beginning of each competition so that a team will know who it plays in the next round as soon as a match has been played. That way the draw can only be 'fiddled' at the beginning instead of each round.

It is also proposed that teams in the new knockouts be regionalised as indicated by bold type in the table below.

If the proposal is carried, the teams would be split as follows:-
